Ex-president of NDSCS in Wahpeton again pitted against faculty

SAIPAN, Northern Mariana Islands – Sharon Hart, the former embattled president of the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, has once again found herself under fire.

According to a report in the Saipan Tribune, Hart, who was hired as the Northern Marianas College president in July 2011, was given a vote of “no confidence” by the school’s faculty earlier this month.

Financial mismanagement and unethical behavior – claims Hart denies – were cited as primary reasons for the vote, according to the Saipan Tribune.

Northern Marianas is an island chain in the western Pacific Ocean that is a U.S. commonwealth, like Puerto Rico.

The Tribune reported that 19 of the 23 full-time faculty members in attendance at a meeting voted against Hart. Two expressed support for her, and two abstained from voting.

Hart quit her NDSCS post in 2006 after a petition campaign asking that she resign and a no-confidence vote by faculty there.
