TRADE TALK: Fargo Beer Co. moves closer to actually brewing in Fargo

Fargo Beer Co. is inching closer to being able to brew where it sells, in the city it’s named for.

The Fargo City Commission accepted and filed an ordinance on Dec. 10 that establishes a new kind of brewing license in Fargo.

The license will allow Fargo Beer Co. to move forward in acquiring land to build a brewery.

The beer company now brews its bubbly at Sand Creek Brewery in Black River Falls, Wis.

The product is then shipped into this area and sold at taverns across Fargo-Moorhead.

Aaron Hill, Chris Anderson, John Anderson and Jared Hardy are partners in the beer company named after North Dakota’s largest city.

Hill said the city’s move is positive, but the partnership was expecting to close on a land deal in mid-November.

Instead, it was pushed back.

Fargo Beer Co. signed a lease agreement with a group that had yet to sign a purchase agreement on a property for sale. Since the group’s close date was pushed back, Fargo Beer Co.’s lease was also pushed back.

Hill said until the deal is closed, he can’t give any details about where the brewery will be.

He hopes that will be soon.

In the meantime, the license ordinance should push through city channels. At least one more, if not two readings of the license ordinance must be scheduled before it becomes official.

Forum reporter Dave Olson who attended the Dec. 10 meeting, said once the license ordinance does go through, the city will give the first license to Fargo Beer. At that time, the company is expected to become Fargo Brewing.

The license should be available by early January.

Tots2Teens opens

Tots2Teens is open for business in the Promenade on 13th strip mall.

The shop at 3021 13th Ave S. in Fargo was opened by Chris and Karla Demars on Dec. 2.

Tots2Teens buys and sells “gently used, name brand” clothing as well as toys and accessories for children ages newborn to teen.

“Really, anything related to kids and teenagers, we have,” Karla Demars said. “I’ve done this my whole life, and I just wanted my own store.”

The store is similar to the popular Plato’s Closet or Once Upon a Child in Fargo.

Tots2Teens is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

It is closed on Sundays.

A and E Cleaning grows

Asmira Husic said her cleaning business, A and E Cleaning, has been growing slow but steady.

Husic was working in the banking industry when she began cleaning commercial buildings part time. Husic then decided to dive into the business full time and now employs seven people who clean commercial and industrial facilities across the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Husic moved to the area with her husband after emigrating from Bosnia 13 years ago.

“This to us is a big success that we have our own business and we are on our own,” she said.

Husic said all cleaning appointments take place after hours. She is available to take on new clients.

A and E Cleaning can be reached by calling Husic at (701) 306-6695.
