Cleanup plan approved for ND oil well blowoutBISMARCK — A state Health Department official says agencies have agreed on a cleanup plan where an estimated 1,500 barrels of fluid blew out of control at an oil well near Parshall.
Environmental health chief David Glatt tells the Bismarck Tribune reports that Slawson Exploration Co. will scrape up snow that's holding the oily mist.
Several state and federal agencies are involved because the spill was about a half-mile from Lake Sakakawea and near a state wildlife management area.
Glatt says the mist covered a fairly large area, but was thin and didn't result in a high concentration of contamination.
Slawson spokesman Kyle Waliezer says his company already has removed several tons of snow from the well site.
