Areavoices: Christmas break events for children and teens at the Fargo library

Are you looking to find your kids something to do over the holiday break from school? The Fargo Public Library has some fun, free events scheduled to help parents make the most of their kids’ school break.

First, kids ages 12 and under are invited to create a LEGO masterpiece for the Fargo Public Library’s annual LEGO Mania Design Contest. Kids build their original creation at home and then bring it to the downtown Main Library for judging and display on Thursday, Dec. 27 starting at 2 p.m. Prizes will be awarded. A complete list of rules and guidelines are available at www.fargolibrary.org. Space is limited; pre-registration is required. To register, call the Children’s Librarian at 241-1495.

Area teens can take a break and take in a movie at the Dr. James Carlson Library. Join us Thursday, Dec. 27 starting at 2 p.m. for a showing of “The Amazing Spider-Man” (PG-13). Free popcorn will be served. Contact the Teen Librarian at 476-5978 or email teens@cityoffargo.com for details.

Finally, kids and families are encouraged to visit the downtown Main Library for a screening of “A Christmas Story 2” (PG). Join us Friday, Dec. 28 starting at 1 p.m. in the community room. Free popcorn will be served. Call the Children’s Librarian at 241-1495 for details.

Fargo Public Library events are free and open to the public. Adults must accompany children under 10 years old. For more information regarding the Fargo Public Library and a list of upcoming events, call 241-1472 or visit the library’s website.
