Felt scores 16 as NDSU defeats Towson in men's basketball

TOWSON, Md. – Mike Felt came off the bench to score 16 points and lead North Dakota State to a 65-48 men’s basketball victory over Towson on Saturday.

The Bison won for the eighth time in the last 10 games. NDSU (9-3) led 28-25 at halftime but outscored Towson 11-2 to open the second half. The Tigers (4-7) got back within six points, 39-33, but drew no closer.

“We did a good job of moving without the ball (and) moving the ball around,” Felt said. “Everyone contributed, so that was good. It was a pretty low-possession game, so it was a grind.”

Felt shot 5 for 8 from the floor, 3 of 6 on 3-pointers and 3 for 3 at the foul line. He got double-figure help from Chris Kading (11 points) and Taylor Braun (10).

NDSU hit 43.8 percent from the field, making 21 of 48 shots. Towson was just 19 for 56 (33.9 percent).

“Our guards were active. … I thought we did a good job taking them out of how they’re used to scoring,” NDSU head coach Saul Phillips said of his team’s defense.

The Bison have one more game before Christmas, hosting Morehead State on Friday night at the Bison Sports Arena.

It marks the second matchup of the season between the two teams. NDSU won at Morehead State 69-57 on Dec. 5.
