TRADE TALK: Indian restaurant getting rave reviews
Rave reviews are coming in on Facebook, Yelp and other online review forums for the variety and authentic Indian fare served at the Palace.
Owner Harpal “Paully” Sigh said metro diners seem to be enjoying the restaurant’s Balti dishes.
Balti is a style of cooking developed about a quarter of a century ago “by an Indian guy in London” using white wine, Sigh said.
Balti at the Indian Palace is a mix of chicken breast or diced lamb with vegetables and is eaten straight from the Karahi, a circular, deep cooking pot. Spices often include cumin, coriander, cloves, cassia bark and ginger.
Although Indian food is often known as a fiery feed, Sigh said Indian Palace restaurants are tame enough for all palates.
“We can do anything from very mild to where a little kid can eat it to whatever,” he said “We’re not afraid to add the spice, either, but we’ll restrict ourselves.”
Sigh said Indian Palace started in the Twin Cities area. There is also a restaurant in St. Cloud, Minn.
Along with menu items, Indian Palace offers a lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and offers delivery.
Indian Palace is open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. to 10 Monday through Friday; from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
The website, www.indiapalacefargo.com, offers a place to sign up deals and discounts.
Students and veterans are regularly offered a discount.

Cafe21 Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar now open
The new Cafe21 Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar is up and running.
The elegantly decorated Asian bistro is on the southwestern corner of the 25th Street Market in what used to be Yuki Hana Grill & Sushi at 1450 25th St. S., Fargo.
Passers-by of Yuki Hana may have recently noticed a closing sign on the door, but the space’s transition was quick. A worker said menu items reminiscent of Yuki Hana remain on the Cafe21 lineup.
