Fargo man arrested following car chaseWEST FARGO – A Fargo man was arrested early Friday morning following a vehicle chase that began on 13th Avenue in West Fargo and concluded in a ditch off Interstate 29.
The chase began about 2:35 a.m. when a West Fargo police officer attempted a traffic stop after spotting a car that was weaving across both lanes of 13th Avenue and had a non-functioning tail- light.
The driver of the suspect car didn’t stop and instead continued eastbound into Fargo, where the vehicle took the northbound on-ramp to I-29.
Officers deployed spike strips that flattened both front tires of the suspect car. But the driver continued driving, taking the off-ramp at the Harwood exit.
When the suspect vehicle attempted to go back onto the interstate heading the wrong way, officers boxed in the vehicle and forced it off the roadway.
The vehicle came to a stop in the west ditch of the interstate and officers arrested the driver, identified by West Fargo police as Ali Abdiaziz Hashi, 30, of Fargo.
Hashi is expected to be charged with drunken driving, driving after revocation and fleeing a peace officer, according to West Fargo police.
