You betcha, Fargo: Making snow for sledding

FARGO - When it's warm outside, Kevin Nathe runs the race park out in Glyndon, Minn. When it's a bit more chilly?

"I make snow all winter," Nathe says, basking in the glow of three bright red machines blasting powder across Dike West on Thursday night.

The popular sledding destination across Fourth Street South from Fargo's Island Park was closed about 50 percent of the time last winter due to lacking snow. Nathe says he plans on putting at least a foot of snow onto the dike, and he'll be back out Saturday and Sunday night to run the machines in about 12-hour shifts until the job is done.

The Fargo Park Board approved the project on Tuesday. It will be paid for with largely through private donations.
