Lind: Seeking info about publicist from ND
Larry Aasen, formerly of Hillsboro and now of Westport, Conn., writes that in August the New York Times reported the death of Dale Olson, 79, a veteran Hollywood publicist.
The obituary said that Olson was born Feb. 20, 1934, “outside Fargo, N.D.”
Larry is sure Olson was from Hillsboro, adding “I love it saying ‘outside Fargo;’ Hillsboro is ‘outside?’ Ha!”
Anyhow, Forum archives have a story from 2008 in which Olson was quoted in an obituary for another Hollywood publicist, but nothing since then.
Anybody have more information about Dale Olson? If so, let Neighbors know.
Here’s another Hillsboro item, and this, too, has a Larry Aasen connection.
Neighbors recently carried items from a 1928-29 diary Larry’s mother, Clara Aasen, kept while living on a Hillsboro farm.
Mike “Dino” Peterson, formerly of Fargo and Amenia, N.D., and now of Las Vegas, writes that Larry also published a book based on the many postcards Clara had in her collection.
The book is titled, “North Dakota Postcards 1900-1930.” Dino says it is “full of some really great history and has more than just pictures of postcards.”
Dino, by the way, is coordinator for the Traill County NDGenWeb website.
“I became the coordinator because my wife’s ancestors pioneered there and in Cass County,” he says. “They needed a coordinator and I was available.
“As a result, I try to read as much as I can for possible mention in the website.”
