Suspect sought in Beltrami County bank robbery

KELLIHER, Minn. — Authorities in Minnesota are looking for suspects in a Beltrami County bank robbery Monday afternoon.

A statement from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office said a person entered the First State Bank of Big Fork in Kelliher, about 55 miles northeast of Bemidji, just before 2:30 p.m., carrying a shotgun with a “silver-type” barrel and black bag and took an undetermined amount of money.

The person was described as being about 6 feet tall with a slim build. He or she was wearing a white, hooded hazardous materials jumpsuit, black tennis shoes, black gloves and a white plastic mask, described in the statement as similar to the mask used in the 1978 horror movie “Halloween.”

Authorities believe the suspect left in a smaller passenger car driven by a second person.

The sheriff’s office is asking for information on anyone with clothing matching that of the suspect or anyone who has acquired a large amount of cash with no apparent source.

Several area sheriffs’ offices are helping the search for the person, along with Bemidji police and state and tribal authorities.
