Letter: Visit a school and have lunch

With all the talk a while back about school lunches and nutrition, I feel that a person should come to Fargo public elementary schools and see what’s offered. Anyone who does so will find that they provide very good meals, with either a hot or cold option along with lettuce salad and fruit. Milk and water are offered every day.

You’d be surprised how much food is wasted every day and thrown away by the students. The prices are reasonable, with an adult serving costing $2.65. Parents and grandparents are always welcome. Just call the school a day ahead of time or by 9 a.m. the day you would like to come eat with your student or grandchild. Most children always enjoy when a family member is there to visit and eat with them. I’m sure you could even log on to the Fargo Public School website to see the menu for the month.
