Tone Loc to perform Saturday in Grand ForksGRAND FORKS - Rapper Tone Loc will perform Saturday at The Ho Bar in Grand Forks. He’s best known for his low, raspy voice and hits “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.”
“Honestly, this is our first time doing something like this. It’s a trial thing, and we’re hoping for the best,” said Amanda Green, general manager at The Ho, which reopened Oct. 27, 2011.
Tone Loc hit mainstream fame in 1989. He’s sold more than 7 million albums and was the second hip-hop artist to hit pop charts. His music career and clean shows helped him break into TV and films. Tone Loc co-starred in “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” and “Heat.”
This is the second ’90s rap star to grace the stage in the Grand Cities. “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper Coolio performed April 21 at Crosstown Lounge, now The Loft.
Duenday with DJ Gabe Garcia will open for Tone Loc at 10 p.m. Saturday night. Admission is $14 in advance and $16 at the door. Tickets are available at The Ho, Budget Music & Video, Jambasetickets.com.
