New ND school superintendent resigning as Mandan School Board president

MANDAN, N.D. — North Dakota's newly elected superintendent of public instruction says she will finish serving her term on the Mandan School Board but will resign as its president.

Kirsten Baesler tells the Bismarck Tribune that she will step down as school board president in early January. Baesler says she will continue as a board member for the next six months.

Baesler also is assistant director of the state School Boards Association. She says she will resign that position on Dec. 28.

Baesler defeated Tracy Potter last month in the race for superintendent of public instruction. Baesler will replace Wayne Sanstead, who is retiring after 28 years in the job.
