Weather Talk: November in F-M slightly warmer than average

November finished with an average temperature of 30.3 degrees, which is 1.5 degrees above the 30-year average for the month. For most of the month, temperatures were near average, with the exception of a very warm period just before Thanksgiving and the below-average period that occurred right after the snow on Thanksgiving Day.

Although Fargo-Moorhead finished the month slightly above average, most of North Dakota recorded below-average temperatures in November. The snowstorm that produced significant snow cover over western and northern portions of North Dakota on Nov. 9 and 10 kept places such as Bismarck, Minot, Williston and even Grand Forks much cooler than what we experienced locally.

On the other hand, most of Minnesota recorded a warmer-than-average November like we did.

The airport recorded 0.59 inches of rain and melted snow last month, which is 0.41 inches below average. The 4.8 inches of snow that was measured is also below the average of 7.9 inches.
