Car totaled in Stark County train crashRICHARDTON, N.D. – No one was injured after a BNSF train hit and totaled a car that had become stuck on the train tracks near here.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 1997 Buick Skylark driven by 20-year-old Shawn Hayes of Hazen became stuck on train tracks near 83rd Avenue around 11:45 Saturday night.
A BNSF train, driven by 29-year-old Shaun Dengel of Mandan, struck the rear end of Hayes’ car, the Highway Patrol reported.
The front end of the train received minimal damage, but the Buick was totaled. Hayes, who had stayed in the car, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, where he was treated and released, the Highway Patrol said.
The crash remains under investigation.
