Letter: Greed seeps more into our culture

It seems more businesses and people care more about making a profit and less for humanity. Greed seems to just seep more and more into our culture.

I can remember when stores were closed on Thanksgiving and even Christmas Eve. Not anymore, though. Whatever happened with spending those days with family? If you can’t get your Christmas shopping done before Christmas Eve, you might as well just give it up.

Kudos to the Wal-Mart employees who chose to walk out and refused to work those long forsaken hours on Thanksgiving.

If we must work on these holidays, pay us more money and give us decent benefits, like good health insurance. Instead of whining about Obamacare, treat the employees right, and they’ll gladly work for you.

Maybe it’s time we go back to basics, when stores used to be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. That’s if businesses don’t want to pay their workers and give them decent benefits.

At least Mills Fleet Farm was smart enough to close on Thanksgiving Day so their employees could spend it with their family.
