Style Profile: Realtor swears by fit and quality

FARGO – The most stylish men know that fit and quality matter.

I spotted Nathan Larson, a Realtor with Park Co. Realtors, downtown at the HoDo wearing perfect-fitting attire.

I like his refined, yet casual style. I could tell he cares about every last detail of dressing.

Describe your style. Tailored – I like to dress down formal clothes. I also mix high and low labels. I tend to layer a lot, too.

What are you wearing? My tie and shirt are from H&M, my vest is Forever 21, jeans are Rag & Bone, jacket is Reiss, scarf is Yves Saint Laurent, and I’m not sure what brand my shoes are, but they’re black wingtips.

Who are your favorite designers? John Varvatos and Dior.

What will people never see you wearing? Sweatpants. I’ve never owned them.

Where do you like to shop? Top Man, Zara, Express, Forever 21 and Gilt (an online flash-sale retailer of designer goods).

What inspires your style? Magazines, and I keep up with runway shows.

What’s your signature color palette? Black, white and gray.

What’s your favorite accessory? A watch. I feel naked without a watch. An accessory I want to wear more of are cufflinks. I have a book with a forward by Karl Lagerfeld, and it’s just cufflinks, cufflinks and cufflinks.

What are your favorite Fargo locales? The HoDo, Mezzaluna and Dempsey’s.

Have you always been interested in fashion? No, not until I moved to New York (where he lived for a year and a half).

I used to wear a lot of Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle. After I moved to New York, I started wearing a lot more black and paying attention to the fit of my clothes.

What’s your fashion philosophy? How you present yourself is how you’ll be perceived, and you only get one chance.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? Yves Saint Laurent. I’d like to get inside his head.
