Most flood-damaged homes in Minot repairedMINOT, N.D. — Officials in Minot say nearly 80 percent of the homes most heavily damaged by historic Souris River flooding in 2011 are repaired and either being lived in or are very close to being habitable.
The flooding in the summer of 2011 caused main-floor damage to more than 2,700 homes in the valley. City Assessor Kevin Ternes (TUR'-nuhs) says only about 600 homes remain unlivable.
The flooding was caused by heavy spring snowmelt and rains. An estimated 4,100 structures in Minot were damaged, from sheds to businesses.
