ND ag commissioner to make Russia trade tripBISMARCK — North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says he'll be part of a U.S. trade delegation to Russia next week.
A U.S. Agriculture Department official is leading the trip, and it's scheduled to include top state agriculture administrators from Idaho, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Goehring wants to find out more about Russian consumer demand for North Dakota oilseeds, machinery and other products. He says the recent normalization of trade relations with Russia opens up a potential $40 billion market.
The group will be visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg, and going to Russian farms, stores and food processing facilities. The trade mission starts Monday and extends through the week.
