Letter: Make health care available to allHerman Winkels wrote a letter (Nov. 25) opposing Obamacare approved by Congress and the president. Winkels is a veteran, and I honor his service like my dad’s service. As a veteran, he is entitled to a government program for health care from the Veterans Affairs health care system, a system approved by Congress and the president.
The establishment of the Veterans Administration came in 1930 when Congress authorized the president to “consolidate and coordinate government activities affecting war veterans.” The three component agencies became bureaus within the Veterans Administration, according to the VA website.
Good health care should be available for everyone, not just veterans.
