Letter: Restrictions on smoking ridiculousIn reference to the article about banning the smoking areas already built by bars and restaurants (Forum, Nov. 27):
People are trying to comply with the laws. The man in the article already spent $50,000 to try to do things the right way.
Ever since smoking has become a pet peeve in this country, the restrictions have become more and more ridiculous. All the pollutants in the air are certainly not cigarette or tobacco smoke.
I truly feel sorry for the folks who are told they have to go to the boonies somewhere to have a smoke.
I am a 60-year-old veteran, and I personally plan on smoking wherever the urge strikes me. These are the kinds of freedoms we fought wars for. (For clarification, I do mean outside.)
