Melby named certified financial planner

Doug Melby, a trust officer with Heartland Trust Co., Fargo, has completed courses to become a Certified Financial Planner professional.

To earn the certification, Melby completed graduate-level courses in investment management, insurance, retirement, estate and income tax planning and he also passed a comprehensive exam.

Pediatric therapists attend speech workshop

Sara Delaney and Elizabeth Donahue, speech-language pathologists at Pediatric Therapy Partners, Fargo, attended a Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets workshop provided by The Prompt Institute.

During the workshop, the therapists learned an approach to speech therapy that uses touch cues to a patients jaw, tongue and lips to guide them through the word, phrase or sentence level of speech sounds.

Meckler certified in financial management

Brian Meckler, a marketing adviser at Absolute Marketing Group, Moorhead, has earned certification in agency financial management.

He recently attended the Certified Agency Financial Management Seminar in Chicago, where he learned how to maximize agency resources and create more efficient billing procedures for clients.

IAAP members attend educational conference

Members of the Red River Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals recently attended the Minnesota-North Dakota-South Dakota Division IAAP Fall Educational Conference in Deerwood, Minn.

Members who attended the conference included: Sheila Watson, Air Force recruiting office; Jennifer Gjestvang and Kristi Rotvold, Sanford Health; Darla Bakko, North Dakota State University Plant Pathology; Sherri Finke, Realty 2000; Christine Moore, Monsanto; and Alana Erstad, PRACS Institute.

The event included a business meeting, educational sessions on leadership and processional success, mobile technology, blogging for business, social media crisis planning and stress management.
