Neighbor rescues angler from icy Minnesota lake

ERSKINE, Minn. – A 59-year-old angler was pulled to shore Wednesday afternoon after he had fallen out of his boat and through the ice on Lake Alyssa.

Reid Wahlin was seen clinging to his boat in the water by a neighbor, who then pulled the fisherman to shore, according to a release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said Wahlin was in the water for 20 to 30 minutes. He was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
