His work focuses on how the brain processes visual information, decision-making, and toward a better understanding of how human memory functions.

Georgianna Whiteley, of Wayzata, is a senior at Luther College, where she’s majoring in chemistry and minoring in biology. She plans to do a master’s in medical anthropology at Oxford. She’s done research on Maasai traditional medicine and the distillation of plant oils to support that community’s economic development. She’s also worked on projects at the nanoscience and nanotechnology institute at the University of Iowa.
