Letter: Good to see Bison in prayerI have been a Bison fan since I was 12 (1962). Win, lose or draw, they are my team.
In the past two years, I have noticed the team kneeling to pray after games at the 50-yard line. Last year after the Bison loss to Youngstown State, some members (about 50 or so) knelt for prayer. The Youngstown team who had started to leave the field turned around, came back and joined the Bison at the 50.
Athletes are often noted for their arrogance, the “jock mentality,” I call it. I think it is great that these young men can humble themselves and acknowledge a power higher than themselves. It shows they are worthy of the recognition they get for their efforts on the field.
Thanks to The Forum and photographer Dave Wallis for finally taking note of this.
