West Fargo falls in third-place match at ND Class A state volleyball

MINOT, N.D. – Dickinson bounced back from a first-set loss to defeat West Fargo 3-1 in the third-place match Saturday in the North Dakota Class A state volleyball tournament.

Dickinson won 13-25, 25-22, 29-27, 25-17.

Abby Grove had 19 kills to pace the Midgets. Ali Moody had 30 assists and also contributed seven kills in the balanced Dickinson attack.

Christina Bruenjes led the Packers with a matchup-high 20 kills, with Courtney Suppa and Amanda Levin adding 11 apiecee.

Fargo Shanley 3, Jamestown 2

Fargo Shanley edged Jamestown 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 19-25, 15-11 in the fifth-place match.

Alivia Fraase had 20 kills, Carolyn Mickelson 11 and Jessica Anderson 10 to lead the Shanley offense. Amy Freeberg dished out 40 assists in running the balanced attack.

Adeline Eamon and Billie Buchanan each scored 13 kills to pace the Blue Jays.

Fargo Davies 3, Bismarck 1

Katelyn Olson’s strong all-around play led Fargo Davies to a 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14 win in the seventh-place match.

Olson, a junior setter-hitter, had 33 assists, 13 digs, six kills, five blocks and three service aces. Kali Erickson had 21 kills for Davies, with Kinsey Papacheck adding 11. Davies had advantages of 50-33 in kills and 14-3 in blocks.

Naomi Rush led Bismarck with 15 kills.
