Langdon sweeps for win at ND Class B state volleyball

MINOT, N.D. - Abbey Braaten has more than 1,000 kills in her Langdon High School volleyball career, and more than 500 this season.

But her preference is playing in a balanced offense. And that advantage showed here Thursday as the Cardinals swept Minot Our Redeemer’s

25-22, 25-19, 25-19 in the quarterfinals of the North Dakota Class B state tournament.

“They went more to (Ashley) Koppinger and (Emily Van Lith),” Braaten said. “It’s easier to defend two people than to defend five or six. And I think we have five or six hitters we can go to. That’s an advantage.”

Braaten finished with a match-high 13 kills.

L (kills-blocks-service aces): Fetsch 0-0-0 (10 digs), Downs 7-0-1 (19 assists), Johnson 5-0-4, Braaten 13-0-3, Hart 2-0-2, Kartes 8-2-0

OR: Knutson 0-0-1 (10 assists, 9 digs), Boeckel 0-0-1, Olson 3-0-0 (11 assists), Bangen 3–0-5, Koppinger 8-5-0, Van Lith 7-1-1, Gartner 1-3-0
