Scouts Honors: Rachel Aabye & Molly Ecker

Rachel Aabye and Molly Ecker have been awarded the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting.

Aabye is a 2012 graduate of Fargo South High School and she is attending Concordia College. She is the daughter of Steve and June Aabye. Her Gold Award project was helping visually impaired students by determining the font size of every large print book in the Fargo Public School district, creating a method to record the information and presenting the information to the cataloger, who entered the data into the district’s online library system.

Ecker is a 2012 graduate of Davies High School, Fargo, and she is attending Jamestown (N.D.) College. She is the daughter of Hal and Pegi Ecker. Her Gold Award project raised awareness about the struggles families face after having a premature baby. She presented her researched facts to students, church and community members, and also collected over 150 preemie outfits and 20 baby blankets, which she donated to a local neonatal intensive care unit.

Rachel and Molly are members of Troop 30204 with troop leaders June Aabye, Barb Berlinger and Ann Olson.
