$10 ‘Fill The Dome’ food bags being soldThe student-led “Fill The Dome” drive is making its final-week drive for donations.
Through Sunday, students are selling $10 food bags at all area Hornbacher’s grocery stores in their effort to fill the Fargodome arena floor with food.
Food collected by the drive will be taken to the Great Plains Food Bank in Fargo.
From there, it is distributed to food banks and soup kitchens in North Dakota and Clay County in Minnesota.
The goal of this year’s drive is to collect enough food and cash to provide 500,000 meals, organizers said.
Students from Fargo-Moorhead area high schools will sell food bags from 4 to 8 p.m. weeknights and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Food donations also can be dropped off at any Hornbacher’s or at area schools, Shanley High School senior Nico Hanson said, or at the Fargodome Nov. 19 and 20.
Monetary donations can be made by logging on to fillthedome.org and clicking the “Donate now” link.
Donations can be texted by typing FILLDOME to 20222, which automatically donates $10 to fill the dome. That amount will be added to your phone bill.
