VIDEO: 112 years of election maps

In 1932 and 1936, every county in North Dakota was blue. Franklin Delano Roosevelt carried the entire state in both presidential elections.

The following two-minute video issued by The Slate recaps 112 years of red and blue in the elections.

Some notable years for Minnesota and North Dakota include the 1960 election between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy, the 1972 election between Nixon and George McGovern and the 1984 race between President Ronald Reagan and Minnesota's Walter Mondale.
