Suspected gang member charged for making terroristic threats with his tattoo

MINNEAPOLIS — A suspected gang member in Minnesota whose tattoo includes a police officer's badge number and depicts a gun in a pig's mouth has been charged with making terroristic threats.

However, a defense attorney argues that it's a "big leap" to suggest that a tattoo constitutes a threat of terrorism. Chuck Samuelson of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota says the images may be disgusting but they're not criminal.

A criminal complaint says 20-year-old Antonio Frasion Jenkins Jr. wrote on Facebook that his tattoo "iz a pig get'n his brains blew out." The complaint says the officer considers it a threat against his life, according to a Minneapolis Star Tribune report.

Prosecutors say the tattoo is a real threat. But Samuelson says terroristic threats generally involve actual weapons.
