Eight Gate City Bank employees served as election clerks at polling sites in Cass County on Tuesday. This is the fifth consecutive election where employees volunteered.
Gate City paid the employees their regular wages for the time spent as election clerks, then matched the amount they were paid by Cass County and that sum was donated to a charity of each employee’s choice.
Hotel taking donations for victims of Sandy
The Courtyard by Marriott in Moorhead has set up a station in its lobby to assist in aid efforts for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The station is for hotel associates, guests and area residents. To help the victims, financial donations may be made in person at the hotel or call (218) 284-1000. Hotel guests can also add any requested monetary amount to their bill.
The hotel has also set up a laptop station at the front desk for online donations directly to the American Red Cross or to transfer Marriott rewards points into a financial donation.
Area Rotary clubs assist with Project English
As an on-going community service project, the five Rotary clubs in the Fargo area purchase and distribute dictionaries to all third-grade students in the Fargo and West Fargo schools as part of Project English.
Arden Glanzer is chairman of the program. Other Rotarians assisting with the program are Brad Dahl, Jen Dahl, Kim Kemmer, Pat DeVine, Ryan McManus, Erik Kantrud, Arden and Nolan Glanzer, Rachel Clark, John Stern, Steve Shark, Doug Burchill, Penny Crowder, Kathy Toft and Mark Hulbert.
