Namedroppers for Nov. 11NDSU NEWS: The NDSU Saxophone Quartet, under the direction of Matthew Patnode, placed first in the North Dakota State Division of the Music Teacher’s National Association Collegiate Chamber Music Competition in Valley City. The group will now compete at the Midwest Central competition in Lawrence, Kan., in January. Members of the group are Carolyn Braus, Bismarck, Antoine Poitras, Fargo, Andrew Long, Fargo, and Paul Nason, Mandan, N.D.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS: The Xi-Kappa-At-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society has named Concordia College nursing student Jessica Biller recipient of the annual Martha Vorvick Berge Memorial Scholarship. The mission of the honor society is to support learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in healthcare worldwide.
Megan Marsolek of Shanley High School, Fargo, and Mercedes Galt of West Fargo High School were named REAL DEAL Scholarship winners by the Bank of North Dakota. Each will receive a $500 scholarship to attend a North Dakota college and qualifies to be one of 48 applicants to compete for a $3,000 scholarship to be awarded in the spring of 2013. Recipients must demonstrate community or school involvement and have a 2.5 or higher grade-point average.
RECENT GRADUATES: Aaron Knoll, son of Pat and Linette Knoll, Fargo, has graduated summa cum laude from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, Minneapolis.
EXHIBITS AND PERFORMANCES: Maren Anderson, Lake Park, Minn., and Mary Preus, Mayville, N.D., will perform in the University of Minnesota Morris 2012 Carol Concert, “ ’Twas the Night before Christmas,” Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 at Assumption Church in Morris.
VALLEY TIES: Megan Kosse, daughter of Keith and Dori Kosse, Fargo, has been hired as an attorney at the Richard Breitman Immigration Law Firm in Bloomington, Minn. Kosse earned her law degree at the William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul.
