Weather Talk: F-M has yet to experience 1st sub-freezing high tempThe coldest high temperature in Fargo-Moorhead so far this season has been 37 degrees. That has occurred twice so far, once in late October and also earlier this month.
We have yet to record our first sub-freezing high temperature of the season. The average such occurrence is on Nov. 7. Last year, we made it to Nov. 16 before we recorded a high below 32 degrees, and just three
years ago, that first sub-freezing high held off until Dec. 2.
That was the second latest since 1881, with the record occurring back in 1999 when our first high below 32 degrees occurred on Dec. 5.
The only other year when that milestone occurred in December was back in 1899.
After the storm passes through the area over the next couple of days, the air mass moving into the area may bring us our first subzero high and, if it does, it will occur right on schedule.
