2-year-old injured in Richland rollover

WAHPETON, N.D. – The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car collision near here that injured a 2-year-old boy, according to a news release from the patrol.

The patrol said Wayne Waytashek, 51, of Cambridge, Minn., was driving his truck eastbound on Highway 13 when a second vehicle made a lefthand turn in front of him. That vehicle, a Ford Escape driven by Seirra Hummel, 25, of Smithville, Tenn., was struck by Waytashek’s truck on the driver’s side door, causing it to spin into the median and roll over multiple times, the release said.

The 2-year-old boy in her vehicle, whose name has not been released, also of Smithville, was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said, but Hummel was. Both sustained injuries and were transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, Minn., and later to Fargo. Waytashek was not injured in the crash, the release said.
