Authorities investigate shooting in Detroit LakesDETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Police are investigating a shooting here early this morning.
Becker County Deputy Kelly Shannon said a suspect has been identified by authorities but the suspect’s name could not be released at this time.
He said deputies know the suspect’s general whereabouts and there is no risk to the public.
According to a release from Shannon:
The shooting on West Lake Drive in Detroit Lakes was reported about 2 a.m.,
When officers arrived at the home, they spoke with the victim, Dustin Scott Matson, 22, of rural Detroit Lakes.
Matson told officers several shots were fired with a small-caliber handgun and he was shot once in the leg.
Matson was taken by a private vehicle to Essentia-St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes and then transported by ambulance to a Fargo hospital.
Matson was released this morning.
Kelly said the victim and suspect are acquaintances.
