Missing Luverne woman found dead near homeLUVERNE, N.D. – The body of a 53-year-old Luverne woman was found Saturday, two days after she was last seen.
According to Steele County Sheriff Wayne Beckman, the woman had left her family farm between Luverne and Cooperstown on Thursday and was thought to be heading to Wahpeton.
After she couldn’t be reached by phone, her husband found her vehicle Saturday morning off of an embankment about a mile from their home and called the sheriff.
Around 11 a.m., a search began with help from the Griggs County Sheriff’s Department, Cooperstown Fire Department, Finley Fire Department and family members.
Her body was found around 3:30 p.m. Saturday about 150 yards from her farmstead.
Beckman said the family wanted to wait a day before releasing the deceased’s name.
Beckman would not release any more information, stating it was an open case.
