Kindred student wins FFA national eventINDIANAPOLIS – Ashley Stoppleworth, a high school student from Kindred, N.D., took first place in an event at the National Future Farmers of America Convention recently.
Stoppleworth beat out 45 other FFA members in the Agriculture Communications Career Development Event, earning a cash prize and two years of high-speed Internet and television service from DISH Network.
The career development event tests students in all areas of agricultural communications and evaluates how well they apply classroom skills to real-life situations.
Participants attend a simulated news conference and complete individual work in writing, digital media and design.
Before the event, the competitors develop media plans. Teams also develop a 15-minute presentation based on their proposals.
DISH’s sponsorship of the National FFA Convention is part of the company’s commitment to providing opportunity to rural America through access to high-speed Internet service.
