Sen. Keith Langseth, Published November 03 2012

Letter: Kent Eken for Minn. Senate

In the 36 years I have served this area in the Legislature, 10 years have been with Rep. Kent Eken, who is the candidate for my seat in the Senate.

Earlier in my years of service, I served with his father, Rep. Willis Eken. During the 10 years I served with Kent Eken, I have been impressed with his good judgment and statesmanship.

In a recent session, he carried the companion of my flood clean-up bill. When he carried the bill on the House floor, the chair of the bonding bill tried vigorously to defeat the legislation. Kent passed the bill by a large majority, providing funding for Moorhead and Oakport Township.

Eken’s efforts in the Legislature have always been to promote the best interests of our area. His efforts to promote education, flood control and real estate tax relief have served the area well.

Serving with Eken has made me committed to help him to serve the Senate seat I held for 32 years. Please vote for the knowledge and experience that Eken possesses to serve us in the future.

State Sen. Langseth, DFL-Glyndon, Minn., is not seeking re-election.
