Letter: Kent Eken for District 4When the Minnesota Legislature convenes in January, Moorhead will find itself in an unusual position. Both our representative and our senator will be freshmen. We’re used to leadership like we’ve had from Rep. Morrie Lanning and Sen. Keith Langseth – leadership that has brought much-needed support for flood control, for our city and for our schools. This session will be different.
We do, however, have one choice that can offset that lack of seniority. Kent Eken has served for 10 years in the Minnesota House. He has been a respected leader, serving last term as assistant minority leader. Which legislators will be most willing to work across the aisle to keep things moving? Who can best work between the houses? Who really means it when he or she says they want to work together?
Eken has also worked with Langseth as a friend and mentor, and can count on his vast knowledge for support. I’d hate to give up that experience and truly start from scratch. I hope you’ll join me in voting for Kent Eken for District 4 senator.
