Police increasing DUI, texting enforcementFARGO – Police here will have extra eyes and ears on the streets through Friday, looking specifically for text-ing drivers and those who drive while under the influence of alcohol, according to a news release from the Fargo Police Department.
Increased DUI enforcement will run through this Friday, police said, while more officers will be looking today for people who text or surf the Web on their phones while driving.
During the distracted driving enforcement today, officers will be saturating the area of 45th Street South and 17th Avenue South, police stated in the news release.
According to the news release, the average text takes a driver’s eyes off the road for about 4.6 seconds. At 40 mph, a car travels 270 feet in that time.
