Minnesota State, Mankato, coach due in court on child porn chargesMANKATO, Minn. — A Minnesota State, Mankato, football coach facing child pornography charges gets a hearing Wednesday afternoon.
Todd Hoffner's attorney filed a motion to dismiss the charges ahead of the pretrial hearing in Blue Earth County District Court.
Hoffner was put on paid leave and charged in August with two felony counts after videos of his children were found on his university-issued cellphone.
Prosecutors say the videos show the children dancing naked and touching themselves. But Hoffner's attorney and his wife say they're not pornography, just innocent family antics. Social workers found no evidence he abused his children, and police found no child porn on his computers.
Hoffner's supporters planned to hold a candlelight vigil outside his home Tuesday night. The family issued a statement saying they're overwhelmed by the community support.
