Minot man sentenced for assaulting fed officer

MINOT, N.D. — A Minot man has been sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a federal officer on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation.

Thirty-four-year-old Vincent Anderson was accused of resisting a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer and hitting him in the face during a traffic stop in the Belcourt area on March 5. He pleaded guilty in June.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says Anderson will be on supervised release for two years following his prison term and must pay about $625 in restitution.
