10 cited for texting while driving during Fargo stingFARGO – Police here issued 10 tickets for texting while driving during a two-day sting last week focused on distracted driving.
A total of 35 traffic stops were made resulting in 10 texting citations, each carrying a $100 fine. Police also issued three speeding tickets and one citation for driving under suspension and made one arrest for an outstanding warrant.
Unmarked vehicles and plainclothes officers were used to help spot distracted drivers. Areas selected were based on crash data and included the 1700 and 1800 blocks of 45th Street South, 4300 block of 13th Avenue South and 3200 block of 25th Street South.
More enforcement campaigns are planned, with the next one set for Nov. 1.
Officers cited 17 people during the department’s first texting-while-driving sting on Aug. 6-7.
