Letter: ND Measure 3 deserves a ‘yes’

When you are in the grocery store buying food for your family, do you think about the variety of choices you have in front of you? Not many of us do, because we have come to expect all our favorite products will be there. As a mom and a consumer, I want to keep those choices available to everyone. That’s why I’m voting “yes” on Measure 3.

Measure 3 is an amendment to North Dakota’s constitution that would ensure that farmers and ranchers could continue using the modern practices they rely on to provide us all with abundant and safe food choices.

Why do we need this? Because radical, anti-ag groups have been successful in other states, pushing their agenda and successfully outlawing modern ag practices. All that does is take away consumer choice.

If someone chooses to not eat meat or to drink soy milk instead of dairy milk, that is their choice. However, we don’t need them telling us we can’t raise animals for meat consumption or for dairy products or, more importantly, that we should not have those personal food choices.

Let’s make sure our food choices are protected by voting “yes” on Measure 3 on Nov. 6.
