North Dakotans warned about cellphone scamBISMARCK — Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says North Dakota cellphone users should be aware of a new scam.
He says his office's Consumer Protection Division has received reports about that scammers are warning of possible cellphone disruptions because of work on cellphone towers. Stenehjem says a bogus customer service technician claims to offer credit on a customer's bill to make up for any inconvenience.
Stenehjem says when people are called, they're asked for private financial information. He says that information can be used by identity thieves.
