Letter: We don’t want another ConradThe two most compelling reasons to vote for Rick Berg are Sen. Kent Conrad and President Barack Obama. Heidi Heitkamp is set in the mold of Conrad, a senator whose actions as Senate Budget Committee chairman deny that the federal fiscal cliff is a danger to the U.S. and the world economy. Conrad has assured the reality of the fiscal cliff with his inaction.
Heitkamp would follow in Conrad’s shoes. Heitkamp and Conrad enthusiastically supported Obama in 2008 assuring skyrocketing deficits. Conrad’s miserable failure to produce a federal budget and Obama’s equally miserable bloated budgets tell us one thing: The Democrats have no plan to rein in trillion-dollar deficits. Heitkamp’s votes in the U.S. Congress would assure Harry Reid that he has another Conrad in his pocket.
There is little time to straighten out the Obama and Conrad $4 trillion-a-year budgets. The only hope is a Republican presidency and Congress ready to implement a debt reduction plan. The man for 2012 is Rick Berg. His votes in the U.S. Senate will assist in averting the fiscal cliff. A federal crisis is looming. Do-nothing Conrad doesn’t deserve continued power through his protégée Heitkamp.
