Work on stream banks to begin at historic fortABERCROMBIE, N.D. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says work will begin to stabilize stream banks at the Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site in southeast North Dakota.
The corps said the $757,000 project is slated to be completed next year at the site listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
The project will protect the existing cultural resources at the site by stabilizing the eroding stream banks.
Officials said erosion is threatening several historic building foundations at Fort Abercrombie. One foundation has been destroyed.
