Police use Taser to subdue suspect of domestic assault
Adrian Scott Mathison, 29, has been charged with felony counts of domestic assault, domestic assault by strangulation and property damage. He also faces a gross misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest.
The complaint alleges that when police responded to a domestic call at a Moorhead residence on Oct. 23 at around 1 p.m., they found Mathison’s wife with a swollen, bloody face and red marks on her neck.
The complaint states that the victim said the pain felt like someone was “cutting her open with a buck knife.”
She told police Mathison hit her 30 to 40 times with a closed fist and then choked her three times until “she saw stars and blacked out,” the complaint alleges, and that he has been beating her for three to four years.
According to the complaint, police arrested Mathison at his Moorhead apartment. Police claim he shattered the window of the squad car after repeatedly hitting his head against it and kicked the inside of the vehicle’s door.
Mathison’s bail has been set at $75,000 cash or bond without conditions, and $50,000 cash or bond with conditions.
According to the complaint, Mathison has two prior convictions for felony domestic assault, in 2006 and 2010. He has a fifth-degree assault conviction from 2007.
