Moorhead High musical aims to spell out laughs

MOORHEAD – Spelling and music combine to create comedy as the Moorhead High School theatre department presents the Tony-award winning musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”

Shows will run Nov. 9-11, 16-18, and 23-24. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $6 for students and $10 for adults. They can be purchased at the school activities office or by calling (218) 284-2345.

The musical follows a quirky group of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

The production includes a creative twist: each show brings local and state celebrities to the stage, adding to the fun and assuring no two performances will be alike.
